Money can't buy me Love
But, John Lennon's image on a coin
can lead to immediate big profits I'm sitting here contemplating Thanksgiving Turkey 2010 and my fond
memories of some of my favorite Beatles' music, as I write this article. Putting the image of a popular Music Legend on a low mintage coin, was a recipe for profit. A situation that had more collectors, thus more demand than there were coins.
An announcement from the Royal Mint on Oct 30, 2010 sent
coin collecting John Lennon Fans to the Mint's web site. The mint released a .925 fine silver commemorative coin with the likeness
of John Lennon on the reverse. The Lennon coin is the 24th coin in the series, which began in 2006 and, has had the likeness of other British notables. Winston Churchill, Florence Nightingale, Charles Darwin,
and William Shakespeare are some examples. With the huge popularity of John Lennon, and, a low mintage of 5,000, the Lennon coins sold out in under a week. The coins almost immediately produced a secondary market on ebay. The coins originally sold for 44.99 pounds, which is about $72 US. At the time of this writing the most recent sale on ebay for this coin was
for $342.77 US. That's a 475% gain in a 1 to 2 week time frame minus of course the ebay, paypal, and shipping fees. But still, a very nice profit. What will be the next opportunity
